Shep was painfully shy. There was no getting around it. She
couldn't even guess at the color of his eyes, seeing as they never rose above
her dusty toes. Contrary-wise, he clearly doted on the sweet, bumbling lambs
frolicking about and behind and between his knees. His voice was low, gentle,
murmuring endearments to his flock, chuckling when they bobbed their heads as
though they understood every whispered word.
"Have you ever tried conversing with human-folk?" Meri
inquired politely, irritation adding sharpness to polished tones.
That did it.
