Stubborn-like, I ignored his
friendly overtures. Which deterred him not one minuscule bit.
"See, I've been on a quest
of sorts, given me by the Wanderer herself. My assignment was to discover five
unfamiliar stories that would relate to the history of the kingdom in some
unique fashion unknown heretofore." These last words he spoke with a kind
of pompous lilt to his voice, as though he quoted someone important and sought
to impart due significance. Not knowing who this Wanderer was, I found myself
shrugging carelessly.
My indomitable companion
laughed, a delighted sound and possibly also one of relief.
