They had the run of the castle, the two of them. The taffy-haired girl and the boy whose green eyes spoke mischief had been adopted as favorites by staff and nobles alike. More often than not, they'd be found in the parlor behind the throne room, playing Rooks'n'Knights with the King, or riding Ladylark, tucked behind the Queen. When they were alone, forsaking chores and getting away with it as usual, they liked to pretend they weren't orphans, but the blessed offspring of the kind royals themselves. Such musings lent sweetness to their lives. And nurtured devotion in their hearts. What began as a means to practice discipline in writing... by the grace of God, has transformed into a means to practice discipline in life. "Sanctify them in the truth; your word is truth...And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another...And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ..."
