Heavy footsteps sounding
on the stairs heralded the Captain's approach, cutting short Meri's reverie. Reluctantly, she dragged her eyes away from the passing scenery and
schooled rebellious thoughts behind an appropriately expectant expression.Ferghan reached the top of the stairway and scanned the room slowly, bright eyes narrowed and focused. When he spotted her, the intensity of his gaze relaxed only somewhat. "Have y' seen m' son, lass?" he demanded curtly.
What has Fen done now? she mused, laughing inwardly. "Nah, Captain," she drawled. "What's toward?"
"The blimey cove flew off with m' compass!" he huffed, all bluster and indignation.
