Questioning Motives : In 100 Words

"Why do you think I came here in the first place?" she cried, anguished tones snagging on long-suppressed emotions. Tear-tracks still glistened like silver on her cheek.

His answer accused harshly, slicing deep. "I thought you came because you were noble. Because it was the right thing to do."

As he continued, her eyes drifted shut, leaking moisture that had sprung anew. "If you tell me I'm wrong, I'll leave and never bother you again. I will, I swear it. But please," his voice softened. "Please, consider first, Highness. What is the truth of your heart?"

 She could not answer.
